Hints & Tips
Individual brands have quirks specific to that manufacturer. Check your brand below – there may be secret sauce that enables your BIOS to crack.
In the case of Asus laptops it’s the date code you require – enter an incorrect password then press Alt +R at the next prompt. Take that date & enter it in the BIOS Master Password Generator below in the same order (yyyy-dd-mm, mm-dd-yyyy or dd-mm-yyyy) as displayed on your Asus laptop.
NB: Use the hyphen key “-” as the date separator, not “/”. Like this: dd-mm-yyyy, not dd/mm/yyyy.
If your Asus doesn’t display a date code on Alt +R boot, there are 2 touchpoints by your RAM slots. Google for your machine’s exact location & short them with a paper clip or tweezers – ka-ching! No more BIOS password.
Dell use 3 minor inconveniences to defend their BIOS security. Without following their protocol, even correct BIOS Master Passwords will fail.
1. Use a USB QWERTY keyboad.
2. When entering an Uppercase character use Caps Lock, NOT Shift.
3. Press & hold the left Ctrl key when entering the password in Dell laptops, then hit Enter twice.
If your Dell service tag suffix is -0001, stop right here. That suffix indicates that the Allow Master Password switch is turned off in BIOS. You can try downgrading your BIOS but most likely will need to use an SPI Reader to dunp the BIOS.bin file – we can clean it for you.
Some Dell service tags are missing a suffix – first try the password generated, then try the passwords for all suffices by adding either -595B, -2A7B, -D35B, -1F66, -6FF1 or -BF97 to your service tag.
Downgrading the BIOS can change your suffix, resulting in a successful password generation. If your BIOS is set to allow downgrades, this method will help.
-8FC8 & -E7A8 suffix are based on an entirely new method. BIOS Master Passwords are available after PayPal donation to support further research.

Try downgrading the BIOS version – this changes the suffix & might just sneak you home with a BIOS Master Password for the replacement suffix.
Also, Dell BIOS contain an option to disable generated BIOS Master Passwords. If the passwords generated here don’t work, your laptop is probably subject to that restriction.

However, reading back a little from downgrading, it seems many has suffered from bricking.
I have however the box ticked in bios, allowing for downgrades.
Current version is A18, should I dare ?
The BIOS code I generated for you used -BF97 suffix, often -6FF1 breaks with BF97 passwords. It could be worth trying with all the suffixes we support, you might get lucky.
If that fails, why wouldn’t you attempt a downgrade? With permission granted, there’s not much to worry about – bricking shouldn’t be a problem.
Your next option is using an SPI reader tool to dump the BIOS, clean it & rewrite.
It seems now, when I try a downgrade, its asking for “the admin password to proceed with the flash”

Dont know if I can do from USB since its prevented to boot from USB (in BIOS) and I cant select anything in BIOS with regards to update firmware.

I ordered yesterday morning a master PW for my DELL laptop, and paid $25 by paypal to biospass@1024kb.co.nz, but since I paid, I received no confirmation, no password, nothing. Is there any problem with my order?
In addition, no message can be sent from the page “contact” of biopassmaster: “There was an error trying to send your message. Please try again later.” Mmh, bad feeling!

Hi James, your Latitude will let you downgrade your BIOS to an older version. This will change the suffix for your challenge code to -6FF1 or -BF97, at which point you can use the Laptop BIOS Master Password Generator to get past your password problem.
The alternative is to purchase a warranty extension from Dell (yours has expired) & then get them to provide the E7A8 password.

Dont 100% no if i no wot mine code is as i got my dell laptop 2nd hand i dont no much about technoligy thats why got 2nd hand to self-teach myself can you still help
At the BIOS password prompt, there should be an identification code of some sort for your laptop. Typically it’ll be (Service Tag) -(BIOS ID), so ABC1234 -BF97 or similar. You need to find that identifier to proceed.
If you don’t know much about this stuff, why would you buy a locked laptop?

That model Elitebook is opened by the smc.bin file that HP no longer provide. Your only hope now is to extract the BIOS file with an SPI reader, get it cleaned & reflash.

You buy an SPI Tool – they’re not an expensive item <$US20 from Aliexpress, EBay or similar. YouTube has some good tutorials on extracting the password-protected BIOS - 15-20 mins effort required for that.Then the tricky part begins, my advice is to do exactly what I would do given the same circumstance - ask Mikrovr nicely if he could please clean the file for you.Tricky part complete, now flash the file back to your HP laptop. Pr0fit.Although this is not a common skill, & may seem intimidating because it broaches the border between hardware & software, this isn’t really that difficult a job to do. When the reward is turning useless junk into a functional laptop, it’s certainly a job worth doing.
